★ Hi, I’m Tim Ries, founder of Tourist New York, established in 2019. With over 20 years of experience in NYC tourism, I specialize in crafting engaging and informative tours of the city’s landmarks, neighborhoods, and hidden gems.
★ Before starting my own business, I served as Director of Visitor Services at the High Line. I’ve had the opportunity to present at events like The New York Times Travel Show and Canada's Garden Tourism Conference. As a licensed NYC tour guide and a proud member of the Guides Association of New York City, I’ve led thousands of tours across the city. I’ve also contributed written work to a NYC food encyclopedia, further enhancing my knowledge of the city's vibrant culinary scene.
★ Outside of work, I explore NYC with my wife and son, and we live in southeast Brooklyn. I’m passionate about collecting vintage postcards, particularly those featuring New York streetscapes, attractions, and points of interest from the 1920s–1940s, which offer a unique glimpse into the city's layered history. This hobby complements my passion for showcasing NYC’s landmarks, attractions, and points of interest. I also enjoy hiking, traveling, and photography.
