About:

Jose has been sharing his love for New York City as a licensed guide since 2011. With a dual degree in Economics and History from Baruch College, he has a knack for uncovering the fascinating stories that make NYC the most vibrant and dynamic city in the world.

On February 21, 2025, Jose gave his two weeks' notice at Bloomberg to officially return to his true passion: tourism. After five years of helping finance and banking professionals navigate complex data sets, he knew it was time to bring his love of storytelling back to the streets of New York.

Born in Guatemala City to a family of musicians, Jose grew up performing across Central America while feeding his curiosity for history and archaeology. His journey to NYC began with a summer romance that blossomed into a lifelong love affair with his native Brooklynite wife—and with the city itself. Together, they’ve built a life filled with curiosity, exploration, and an endless appreciation for the magic of New York.

Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Norwegian, Jose brings his storytelling to life in multiple languages. Whether you’re strolling through historic streets or exploring hidden gems, his tours are filled with humor, heart, and the unique perspective of someone who truly lives and breathes New York.
